The majority of the cars you are talking about are garage queens, which are typically sponsored by companies who don’t mind paying big $$$ for the extensive amount of work put into these cars. In return, you have to display your car at their booths in car shows/events. There is an agreed upon minimum number of car shows that you have to attend yearly, for as long as the contract is effective. If you break the contract, they get your car. I actually got a sponsorship offer about a year ago, but after reading over the rules I decided not to go through with it. People on here enjoy driving their cars. They tend to focus on upgrades that will increase the cars performance, as opposed to its looks (paint, body kit, vertical doors, etc). In order to make the front page in any magazine, your car needs to have both the looks, and power to back it up. Just as an example, if member Collegeboy were to reach his 750hp goal, his car would have a big chance of making front page on one or more of the performance magazines. I am not saying that his car is a garage queen (he actually seems to drive it quite frequently), or that he is sponsored by someone. But his car’s looks, along with the attention to detail set it apart from the crowd. All the car needs is more power. Saying that the Z32 is “ignored in magazines” is such a harsh statement. There are quite a few Z32s which have been featured in performance magazines. Additionally, the Z32 recently appeared on Automobile magazine’s “25 most beautiful cars ever” list, and on the 20 greatest cars of the past twenty years (titled “20 to Remember”). It was also #13 on Sport Compact Car’s “100 greatest sport compacts of all time.” Then there is Sport Compact Car’s “Project Z.” Those are all recent magazine articles, not to mention the numerous awards won by the Z32 when it first appeared. That is more than what I can say about the cars you mentioned. Now going back to your original claim: Ignored? I don’t think so. Underrated? Maybe. I have nothing against the cars you mentioned, with the exception of maybe the Civic. They are all unique in their own way, again, with the exception of the Civic. However, it is the Z32 that stirred my emotions the most. If there is one thing that we (TT.net members) all share in common, it would be the love for the Z32. Magazine front pages, The Fast and the Furious, Supra owners, etc, will not change the way we feel about our cars.
